WALES ON TARGET TO REDUCE LANDFILL WASTE
Figures announced reveal that every local authority in Wales has met strict limits, set by the Assembly Government, on the amount of biodegradable waste it can send to landfill sites. Wales, as a whole is also currently within its 2009/10 target set by Europe.

WALES
ON 40% TRACK!
Wales
is on track to meet its 40% recycling and composting target by 2010 after reaching a 32% recycling rate, the Welsh Assembly has announced. With Powys, Conwy and Ceredigion singled out for praise for already reaching the 40% target it is anticipated that Wales as a country is progressing well to hitting the 40% target by 2009-10.
Quarterly figures published from the WasteDataflow database yesterday show that local authorities recycled and composted 30% of household waste in the third quarter of 2007-2008 (October - December) - 4.6% more than in the same period in 2006-07.
