The CRNS is a membership organisation set up to provide support and information for community led groups involved in recycling, reuse, composting, reduction and waste education activities. Acting as a one-stop-shop facility for information on funding, best practice, training, local and national markets, business planning, education and promotional tools, and local contacts, the network is now supported by over 100 organisations from across Scotland.
Reducing waste could save Scottish businesses up to £2bn a year according to Zero Waste Scotland, who have welcomed new proposals by the Scottish Government to increase trade waste recycling collections.
The proposed Zero Waste Regulations call for paper and card, glass, metals, and plastics to be collected separately from businesses, and outline mandatory food waste collections for those involved in food production, retail or preparation.

Over 20 sites in Scotland blighted by illegal flytipping are to be transformed, thanks to a £76,000 grant programme from Zero Waste Scotland.
The original flytipping grant funding pot of £50,000, announced in July, has been increased to £76,000, following a huge response from community groups, landowners and land managers who are continually battling the problem of regular, unlawful flytipping.
