This is an exciting opportunity for a senior manager from a waste sector background to lead a team in the delivery of excellent services across Central Bedfordshire. The remit includes waste collection and disposal; street cleansing; grounds maintenance and the management of two closed landfill sites.

The role
This high profile role will see you manage the development of a new Municipal Waste Management Strategy for Central Bedfordshire and be a key member of the management team responsible for its delivery.
You will contribute to the development of waste initiatives and policies which achieve the objectives of the Strategy, the service area Business Plan and the Sustainable Communities Strategy.
On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for the smooth operation of the Waste Strategy Team. This will include the management of all strategy, performance, finance, planning and waste awareness functions of the service. You will design innovative team plans and lead your team in a positive, proactive manner.

The requirements
Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or with a relevant professional qualification or evidence of continual professional development, you will have a background in waste and working in a large, complex organisation.
You will have proven budget control, leadership and project management abilities alongside experience of managing successful campaigns and initiatives to reduce waste.
