Description:  DSD Contracting is a part of the Commercial Services Department, the trading arm of Bedford Borough Council.   This authority has been rated ‘Excellent’ four star council and is one of the highest performing councils in the country.  Having recently been awarded unitary status, DSD Contracting is set to expand the size and range of its services to the new unitary council.   This is an exciting opportunity to take part in the growth of one of the best in-house service providers in the country.   You will be required to manage the service to best meet our clients’ needs whilst maximising commercial success.

You should have a proven track record of developing and delivering effective and efficient Refuse and Cleansing operations.  You will also need to prepare accurate quotations and tenders for new contracts.  The role will demand the application of skills, knowledge and experience to provide an innovative approach in the adoption of new technologies and working arrangements.

Membership of a professional institution and a managerial qualification would be advantageous, as would experience in the operation of a Waste Transfer Station. (ie: WAMITAB TSS4 qualification).
