Description: Worcestershire County Council and Herefordshire  Council have collaborated to provide an innovative, integrated waste management system to achieve our goal of providing a world-class service to our customers. Officers operate in a number of teams dealing with the waste contractor, monitoring disused waste disposal sites and providing waste reduction initiatives to the public. We are looking for someone to manage the team which monitors the performance of the waste disposal contractor and undertakes data modeling and management. Reporting to the Waste Services Manager, the successful candidate's main duties will be to ensure value for money is obtained from the contract, and that the contractor operates to the specifications in the contract, delivering projects within time and on budget. The successful candidate will also be involved in managing the relationship between the service and the contractor, as well as participating in the liaison arrangements between the district councils in Worcestershire, the County Council and Herefordshire. The person will also act as the LATS Trading Officer on behalf of the two Authorities.

Ideally the successful candidate will have an HNC/ HND/ Degree or equivalent in Waste Management or a related discipline, and significant experience of working in local authority waste management setting. They will have excellent communication skills, the ability to negotiate, and significant experience of developing and maintaining partnership working arrangements. They will understand project planning and management techniques, and be computer literate with significant experience of dealing with spreadsheets and databases.
